Justice Department Reaches Agreement with Online Grocery to Make Website Accessible

The Justice Department has reached a settlement agreement with Ahold U.S.A. Inc. and Peapod LLC to correct alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Peapod is America’s leading Internet grocer, delivering more than 23 million orders across the U.S. The agreement resolves allegations that Peapod‘s website is not accessible to people with vision, hearing and manual dexterity disabilities. Under the agreement, Peapod will ensure that users with disabilities are able to effectively use the site to place orders. The company will also hire an independent website accessibility consultant who will evaluate the accessibility of the website and its mobile applications every year.

For more information about the ADA and other laws that protect the rights of people with disabilities read Disability.gov’s Guide to Disability Rights Laws.
